Record for longest time to first payment?

I'm not really doing it for the money...

Based on my calculations and previous history, it is going to take 3&1/2 years for me to get my first payment from Google (just measuring the main part of my website.)

I definitely know that most of my content is not really suited to AdSense (galleries), but some of it does better than others.

Thanks.

I assume that your predictions are based on your site’s current traffic.

Get more traffic. Add text content to the gallery pages. Try referrals. Change your ad colour/position. Experiment. Read WebmasterWorld.

...most importantly, aim high ;)

Have a read of incrediBill's post [webmasterworld.com ] - it's very inspiring and should help you reach your first payment a bit quicker. :)

I also had an idea where people would share their ideas to get the least amount of clicks so people could do the opposite.

My contributions:
- hide the Google Adsense banner at the very bottom of the page.
- Use exactly the same banner for every page.
- Don't integrate it into the content.
- If you have a page that is getting a lot of clicks, cut up the content into smaller pages so you lose a proven earner.
- Have lots of gallery pages with no text so the only ad that appears is "widget album".
- Don't have a CMS or template system for your website so you have to insert all the AdSense code manually and get tired of it.
- Have an afilliate linking program on the same page so the ads compete against each other.

I am going to try and follow some of my own advice and change the ad placement on my page (moving ad banners to the top of the page) and see how it goes.
