Hardcore Adverts on My Science Adsense Site

I was shocked to see an advert for hard core pornography appearing through adsense on my educational web site! This type of advert may be appropriate for some sites, but not for the majority and as such I really think Google should be more responsible in providing a default filter for these adverts.

As it is, I had to discover the URL, being careful not to click the advert, and then put it in a filter in my adsense setup.

I'm not impressed.

I would email Google to tell them about this - they might not know. I doubt they would allow such advertisers on AdSense while having such strict rules about a website's content being non-adult.

As a webmaster of some family centric sites, I hope I do not get these ads -- not good for business for us or Google.

The text of the advert, which surely Google must be aware of? makes it quite clear what the advert is for, that was how I noticed it. I suspect Google has the attitude that there are plenty more publishers eager to earn a few cents, so if some stop using Adsense, so what?

I believe that part of the problem may be the delay in adwords reviewing adverts.

I changed over 400 adgroups several months back, and I know for a fact that a bulk of these new adverts have not yet been wormed by adwords. I know this because I have spotted a couple of bad spelling mistakes that normally would cause the advert to have been disapproved - but they haven't got that far. So I can only assume that perhpas if an advertiser has a large number of adverts due for review that they only do a percentage of them at a time - or something like that. Or, it is possible, that they have a big back-log from advertisers waiting to be reviewed.
