Does anyone have a current favorite blogging "platform" to use with AdSense? Anything I should avoid?

How about Google's Blogspot - is AdSense able to deliver targeted ads on a blog that primarily deals in one subject area?

On a related note (and to avoid starting a new limited interest thread), if AdSense is added to a blog at blogspot, where do the statistics show up in the AdSense reports?

I would go with WordPress myself, it has incredibly good support with AdSense (including plug-ins that make AS easy to use if you are not all that knowledgeable when it comes to coding), and it's very lightweight and with the recent changes, it functions great as both a blog and a low-end CMS.

There are so many people using both WP and AS, that questions you may have - you can easily find the answers to.

Thanks. I noticed that some of the blogs I visit often were on blogspot so I set up a blog over there last night. It seems to have nice features and is very user friendly.

I'll take a look at WordPress and maybe give it a test drive before I get started with one or the other.

Would you (or anyone) happen to know of a site/article that reviews the features of blogspot vs. WordPress?

Thanks,

I was blogging for 3 months using Blogger. It was so smooth until I reached 100 articles.

Blogger insufficiencies.
1. The Category - it would take some time for you to manage categories because the category links wouldn't display automatically in the homepage.
2. Summary of the articles. In Blogger, once you click the category at the bottom of the article, all the full articles will be displayed while in Wordpress you can automatically choose Summary or full articles.
3. Templates--Blogger has few templates to choose from. Wordpress has thousands in the web including the 3 and 4 columns layout.
4. Adsense blocks--Wordpress has a lot of locations in which you want your Adsense ads to appear because of the Adsense plugins available while Blogger can be placed only on top and bottom of the page and in the other column.

Wordpress is a lot better to use not only for Adsense.

Color me confused I guess. I was browsing around WordPress and found a page in the FAQ about AdSense that reads, in part:

Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika and other ads are not permitted to be added by users. Adverts that may be inserted when using an external blogging program will be blocked.

That's for wordpress-hosted blogs. Install the software on your own domain and it's yours to do what you'd like.

What Jim said. If you are looking for a blog-hosted platform to post AdSense ads on, then you're back to Google's own Blogger (where it's encouraged).

I came to that conclusion after reading more on the site.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.

My test blog on Blogger got good targeted ads right away. I was pleasantly surprised.
