Let's supose that you have a big site about movie reviews with forum, classifieds, internal serach and so on:
- if you open a new branch and ther's no enough ads inventory or the ads aren't competitive (hig bid/CTR) for the new topic, your new branch will show ads for classified sites, forums...
- if you make a totally new site with spcialized content you will have ads only about your topic, altough the CPC could be a little/ lower
What would I do? Open a new folder on my site and let Adsense to select the better ads: I make sites for users, not for advertisers (the income arrives in the long term, I know, but arrives "strongly")
It doesn't....therefore anything past that point is actually pointless!
If I was an unscrupulous SEO I might want to tell everyone that a "sandbox" concept existed.....but wait.....I am an unscrupulous SEO and I don't want to spread this malicious rumor, simply because it is plainly ridiculous!
There is no "Sandbox", those that claim otherwise either don't know which way is up or are trying to discourage competition.
I like competition....bring it on! You have every chance, accusing Google or Yahoo of "sandboxing" is simply trying to discourage you IMHO!
But I was really wondering, from the standpoint of brand-concept if it would be better to start a new site. It would be harder. You wouldn't be able to transer as much PR, but it would have it's own name and it's own separate identity,. And with a separate domain, it would be easier for a user to remember and get back to, rather than as a section of a website (that mainly deals with other topics anyway)
Opinions?
