Alternative Page Tracking

I have started using alternative pages for AdSense on my website.

As with other things, I'm keeping records of how often and to who these alternative pages are being sent to, in order to help me build a more complete picture of traffic behaviours on my site.

The problem is, the full unencrypted address is right there in the code. Robots, spiders, and anyone else viewing my source are looking up links can get to that page and throw off my metrics.

I know I can't touch the AdSense code, but is there any other way for me to help keep these views separate from the ones where the page actually is an AdSense alternative ad being shown?

Maybe the page reefer, or other information well help me identify the different groups of people?

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

i personally find it very bad that google let you do this yourself and they dont have stats in the adsense control panel that show how many times the alt ads have been shown.
