OK, here goes...

I have a website about my home town (in the UK) which is a hobby. The site was hosted for free by a friend.

Unfortunately, the free hosting came to an end when the company went bust. I didn't want the site to disappear because of the work that went into it. After looking at various hosting plans, I worked out that I needed to earn around $100 per month to cover the costs.

This is when I joined adsense. It was a little over 12 months ago. I stuck some ads on and was really pleased to be earning around $10 per day - more than enough.

I have vowed never to make a penny from the site. Any profits go to local charities. This is why I'm not too bothered about optimisation etc, I'm just happy to cover the hosting costs.

So, here is the crux:

Traffic is only slightly higher as it was 12 months ago, ads are in the same place etc. The only thing thats changed is the PR - from 4 to 5.

One year on, without playing, the site is now earning $34 per day average! What will it be next year? $50 per day? My adsense tip, do nothing, lol.

My Adsense success story: do lots every day to maximise revenue. Bet I could squeeze $200 out of the visitors earning you $50. ;)

You probably could. ;o)

My point is that I've done nothing and revenue has more than trebled! As I've said, I'm really pleased, the site is still live and it can donate around $6,000 to a good cause this year alone.

I'm left to wonder why your tip appeals to me so.

The fact is no one intends to do anything if it doesn't break....:P

Good luck.

See, now don't you feel just awful? Your laziness has stopped those charities getting $60,000 instead ... ;) Poor little timmy ... poor, poor little timmy ...

I just had to throw in some sour grapes.

It is great that you can help your community.

I was looking forward to doing the same but I can't seem to get rid of some expensive vices.

I just checked out a site of mine that I haven't touched in a year. Visitors went down in my case, by almost 1/3(14k a day to 10k a day) but income is up slightly, about 10%. Hmmm...

That's very generous of you to being giving away that money. I try to give back too but you've got me beat. 365X34 is over $12,000 a year, good of you to be planning on giving all that money away minus hosting costs.
