i find 728px leaderbox rather limited. it would be nice with a 800px why didn't they pick this width from the beginning?

For one thing, a 800-pixel-wide leaderboard is nonstandard. See:

What I'd like personally like is a 1024x768 unit.

Better still, a floating ad unit that follows your mouse pointer - no way to avoid clicking!

WOW! A 300X600 is a standard size? If that was available, that would be one huge AdSense block :)

Maybe with Windows Vista and the newer wide screen LCD monitors that have a resolution of 1680x1050, they might consider using larger ads in the near future.

Vista in itself doesn't in any way promote higher resolutions though...
