Customising Websearch

I tried to enclose the websearch in a box like the one google show in their example in the websearch settings when you log into your account but I can't seems to frame up up the websearch nicely.

There seems to be a lot of white space below the bar when I try to enclose the websearch in a box. Anyone knows how can I get rid of the space?

i asked them if i could 'customize' the code similarly and they told me no. so i haven't been able to use it at all.
