Are you allowed to make the site design the same as Adsense

How close is too close?

A lot of people are designing their sites around the look of adsense (customized). But is there a limit Google is comfortable with? For example, if you have straight amazon links that looks just like the adsense ads, will they have a problem with it? Or is it ok as long as it is static and not context sensitive?

Why not ask AdSense Support? That's a lot safer (and wiser) than relying on third-party opinions.

Their responses have gotten sporadic and not on the ball anymore. Example, I ask them a question about an existing account and they respond with the url to sign up for adsense.

Their email requests seems to have outpaced their ability for quality employees to respond. Plus doing it here answers it for a lot of people at once.

You can send them a question ten times in hope that it will get to different operators ;)

I don't think they have a problem with making your site design the same as adsense (colors, borders, fonts, etc.), but making any other advertising look like adsense isn't allowed.

I know you are not allowed to make other ads look like adsense on a page where you have adsense running, but what is not clear is that if you have adsense on one page but not another (within the same domain/site), can you make affiliate links or other text links look like adsense on that page that you dont actually run adsense on?

Use everything and nothing beyond what Google offers within their customization options. They are covered from their side with the addition "Ads by Google".
