Fledgling site with Adsense - Planning big marketing push

Do I have to notify Google of this, or hope they will not ban me?

I read here more and more the story "I have been banned" - and the only information I can extract is a marketing event, which drove unusual amount of traffic to the site, took place at the banned site.

I am concerned that come January, when I spend a large amount of money on marketing, if I am successful to increase my traffic exponentially, Google will ban me because of the "unusual" traffic pattern. (The reason from Google would be "invalid clicks".)

Should I e-mail Google?

"I have been banned"

It is hard to get the full story, every detail, of ban stories. I have experienced a sudden surge in traffic before, like when a site of mine is mentioned on TV or radio, creating a surge in traffic without adverse effects.

However, if the surge came from many backlinks "all of the sudden" that might send up a red flag.

Large traffic spikes do not necessarily translate into huge jumps in clicks. But if you are advertising specifically to drive up cliks, then, it is best to inform Google that you are going for a marketing push to increase TRAFFIC and let them give back their generic reply...'They will monitor and credit all legitimate clicks etc etc ..blah blah'

At least you will feel that your have taken some precaution.

Trust in God and 'G'. ;-)
