I am relatively new to this, so please bear with me. Does anyone use AdSense as a redirect from another network? If so, does it work reasonably well? I'm making more from the other networks than from Adsense, but they don't fill all my inventory

Yes. I use Adsense as a Valueclick default (perfectly within TOS, the two are very different).
It works. When Valueclick has no advertising to pass, it passes my default advert which is a Google Adsense advert. Any clicks are dealt with as one would expect.

Not all browser support redirect such as Opera (<2% market share).
