Graphical "Ads by Google" Logo

I just spotted an instance where the "Ads by Google" is a combination of text (Ads by) and a gif (Google). It certainly took me by surprise. Has anyone else seen this or have I just crawled out from beneath a rock?

Yes I also noticed Ads by Google graphics and it is really looking nice atleast better than ooooooooooooo.

I just saw one a few hours ago this AM on someone else's site, so I checked mine - just the usual. I'm glad others saw this, too.

its on my site - the logo is on a white background so looks silly on some of my pages as I have "pastel" colours!

ya, bottom is chopped off with a horizontal gray line.

It is likely comprised of several class modules, is re-entrant and took 2 weeks to create.

I hope G programmers don't move on to the missile defense system programming.

Oh, man. The beginning of the end. Is it ALWAYS on a white background? On my tan background site, it looked just bad. They should have allowed us to opt of this before testing it.

I hope it's not on a white background on my site that has a black background...

Why is there always someone completly overreacting?

One of the main reasons I like Google as opposed to another ad service is that it is all text-based. If they start making text ads partially graphic that clash with my look and feel, it is not good for me. If that's overreacting, then I'm guilty.

The image could be for additional IP & referrer tracking on a separate non ads serving machine, an additional security/click fraud level.

I noticed this yesterday. I currently have a mixture of "Ads by Google" and "Ads by Gooooooogle" (about equal at the moment).

But yesterday I also saw use of the "Ads by Google (Logo)" and "Ads by G (Logo)"

Is this general, or am I a Guinea Pig?

Just saw one of these too, if it is kept, id like to see a option in the adsense setup to let us choose, or at least more flexibility in the color of it since it doesn't look right on my page

I did not notice it yet but I feel its good that Google is doing experiments on regular intervals with display of ads & it will fight ads blindness.

This is a bummer. On anything but a white background, it sticks out like a sore thumb. We should have been notified and given an option to use it or not.

I very must doubt that they wouldn't give you the option to turn it off or offer some solution if it is an eyesore.

this is bad, i noticed drop in clicks and ctr is 1% down, because now visitors can easily see that logo and wont click on ads because they know this is google ads
before was lot easier to blend gooooooooogle text in background so visitors usualy don't see that text or dont pay much attention to this text, now this logo is staring at us ;)

No problem.

However the suggestion that people don't click on links that are Ads by Google is a concern.

Blending your ads so that people are not aware that they are clicking on ads should not be done (it is against the TOS) and would usually lead to poorly converting links to advertisers that would, in turn, hurt you with smartpricing.

In fact there have been threads here suggesting that highlighting Ads as Sponsored Links could actually increase CTR.

ctr is 1% down

My CTR varies day to day on a weekly cycle with over 30% between the highs and the lows. A 1% change would be in the noise - can you really attribute this to a change in Ad Style?

no, i dont hide that "Ads by Google" part lol, but i still think that this text is better than G image ;)

btw i always have my ctr the same for months, usually +-0.3, and i have a lot of impressions, but today (and yesterday) ctr is -1% hmmm

It's not just you, I'm getting them too. I really hope they will get rid of the Ads by gooooogle. It looks like I've put up phoney Google ads.

I would prefer the simple text "Ads by Google". The graphic looked OK on the pages where I saw it but they will have to do something so that the color or colors will look right on all ads. I do not want a garish Google graphic which would be the case on some color schemes. The size I saw was just slightly bigger than the text.

seeing them on my sites too - don't really like it to be honest. I don't show image ads for good reason so don't expect Google images with ads.

I'm with you joeking - they look really, really, badly optimised and tacky on my sites, extremely unprofessionally done and do not match any of my background colours...doh!

I saw them on my site to it seems to use both the text Google, the text Gooooooogle and the graphical Google.

The thing is that in a leaderboard ad it seems they are giving content that's taller than the iframe.

Maybe themed units had lower performance in comparison to regular ad units (blending?), and they decided to discontinue them.
