What is the worst holiday for Adsense publisher?

Income diving during thanksgiving and xmas

Just wondering what is the worst holiday for Adsense publishers? Comments and experiences (horror stories?) from more experienced publishers would be nice - at least at killing time during thanksgiving ;-D

So far, personally the worst experience has been the week during and after Memorial Day: it seemed like both surfers and advertisers run out of money.

Since I'm not all about U.S. traffic, thanksgiving is not totally killing my income: Getting quite a normal amount of clicks, but traffic and income down 10-20%.

Just wondering how long the xmas dive will be - just a couple of days, or over a week?

Or maybe something like a xmas website would be clever way to reduce losses -- If you can't beat it, publish about it ;-D

PS: Oh, and yes, we all do know that it of course depends on the publisher's topic and target country etc. But (overall) comments would still be great.

For me xmas week has the most notable impact. Last year was as follows:

22nd Dec - Normal
23rd Dec - Half of 22nd
24th Dec - Third of 22nd
25th Dec - Same as above - slightly up if anything
26th Dec - Two thirds of 22nd
27 th Dec - Back to normal

31st - 2/3rds of 22nd

All other days - just normal. Figures based on four figure daily earnings.

Also noted that January was much higher than I expected. Not sure if it will repeat this year or not. Fingers crossed.

Yes, January is when everybody looks up their gifts to find out how much was paid. They do a lot of research, my January 2006 was great, as good as December 2005. But October is best for me--costumes.

My worst holidays are the summer get-aways, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day.

There's no one-size-fits-all rule. It depends on your topic and audience. A "How to buy a Christmas tree" site might do well over Thanksgiving weekend, but its traffic and earnings would tank over Christmas, when a "Where to celebrate New Year's Eve" site might be just starting to attract hordes of visitors and ad-clickers.

There's no one-size-fits-all rule.

That pretty much sums up Adsense in general. But as far as holidays go it seems especially true.

My site seems to do at least average and ,aybe a bit above on holidays. That's probably because nostalgia plays a big part in why folks visit my site and holidays are great times for folks to sit around talking about their favorite memories.

Thanksgiving was my highest paying day so far this year. I love the holidays!

Hmmm, I think I could manage a comment or two.

Ah yes, that would be the memorial day which is set aside that we may remember those who gave their lives that we might enjoy our freedom. Let's hope that in the midst of your AdSense woes you spared a thought for the brave young men and women who made that ultimate sacrifice.

Just wondering how long the xmas dive will be

Cor blimey, just be satisfied that you have the opportunity to earn whilst you sleep; that you can earn almost every day of the year, and on the days when pickings are thin, well spend some time with those whom you care about and love. There's more to life than AdSense - much more. Be thankful for that.

My sites perform well on the holidays, they're typically the kind of sites people visit at home and on the weekends.

To Etonian:

Ah, now I see it, everyone who spends one second of his/her life thinking about adsense is a senseless persons. :-D

Thank you for clearing that up - but hey - what are you then doing on this adsense forum?

How dare you use your time to anything else than being in africa saving innocent children? Why should we honor thousands of years old traditions and dead people when we could be saving innocent children?

How can anyone dare to breathe air, that will be much needed by little innocent children - outrageus that people breathe.

And if you can be so kind that tell me how to save innocent kids or honor dead people without a dollar living under a bridge?

But hey, what if we never ask anything/comments - let's make asking questions illegal - now that's a good idea surely, but, how could we know anything about important things like memorial day without asking? ;-D

But how about demolishing all the houses in the world, all the governments, everything. That way we could honor all the important things 24 hours per day? You would like that, wouldn't you?

I'm just saying, there is a difference between asking questions to know more - and being insensitive about valueable topics in life.

There's more to life than AdSense...

True, but this is a forum *about* AdSense where self-righteous rants intended to demean are rude and disrespectful.

Guys tone it down a bit I can feel the tension on the monitor.
Andreals, I think the question is too general I have 6 sites now, 2 Recipe sites, 1 Real estate site, 2 Travel sites, and a Google Co-op Search engine site. Yep traffic for the real estate site was pummelled because G dropped all pages except my home page, but to answer your question it is based on the type of site you have. If the majority of your traffic is from G use your Adwords account and check the Global searches with the Google Keyword tool to tell you when traffic wanes for your keyword. You will know when to expect a downturn of traffic and hence clicks.

Wouldn't have mattered that much! After Thanks Giving virtually no one one is looking at real estate sites anyways!

I go on vacation for week 2 of November through to week 2 of January. Unless you have a holiday related site this is a good time to take your vacation!

Worst time for Adsense Publishers in general is Xmas week, 24th to 26th of December you shouldn't even think about looking at the stats unless you have an Xmas based site ;)

Happy Holiday :)

4th of July, New Year's, Christmas and Memorial Day are my best (in that order); the rest of the holidays are pretty much like any other day.
