My friend wants to open an adsense account but he asked me if I can put the adsense code for him.

This means that I have to access his account. Is this not against TOS?

Technically, no, its fine.
Consider that some people build other people's websites for a living, and may put their client's adsense ads on each of those client's websites.
Obviously they must access the account.
However, you may want to be cautious - you will then be associated with the other account. If he does something stupid then your account may be banned by association too.
At very least, I would drop adsense an email, explaining your limited involvement in the other site.
At most I would smilingly decline (if he doesn't know enough to do a really simple thing like put the ads up then he doesn't know enough not to click his own ads....)

Myself, I'd decline.

You could use HIS computer ( not your own) to put the code for him. Make up some excuse --you are teaching him etc.. Avoid mentioning your own vulnerability because people have a nasty habit of taking advantage of any weakness..

If he is a true friend, i don't see why you have to make up an "excuse". I did this for s friend once ( luckily living in the same town so i had no problem accessing his PC ) and i explained exactly why i didn't want to do it from my PC.

If the friend has a brain, he will understand perfectly why it is better to do it that way to protect both parties from any posssible problems.

What is there to lie about?

When You remember the threads "I could save 3 people", I started one of them at AdSense. I am his web designer since 1998.

So shure I worked on my computer on his AdSense account. I check somtetimes his statistics. How else?

I can not drive always to his computer.

Also he has the strange idea, that a 256 MB computer is enough, so I have also not the time, to wait until his computer does something beside swapping.

Teach him to fish and he'll be able to feed himself for life.

ps. I love my pentium 300 with 256M. If my custom software runs on that then it will run on anything!

easy enough to work on his site/ads without logging in. Tell them to create a default ad and have them email you the code. You can design any ad types from within your account, then simply replace/change the publisher id when putting them on his site.

thanks for all your replies. My problem is we are in different countries. I can't go and use his computer. It means there will be two IP addresses accessing his account. Also I have an adsense account.
