Ownership of my site is changing plans. Do I need to give them MY adsense account? (and my gmail, and my adwords, etc everything else under my Google account).

Or can they open up their own adsense account and register my site?

Is this even necessary?

I just dont want to have to give them the same password for my gmail and adwords account so they run ads on their site that used to be in my adsense account...

Thanks guys

The adsesne account is nothing to do with the site - and everything to do with you.

Don't even think about it.

They will create their own.

As Quadrille mentioned, don't give them your Adsense account. In fact, they're not even transferrable (I think it states this somewhere in the Adsense TOS).

If you transfer ownership of your website to them, they can setup their own Adsense account and place those ads on the site.

Yes, they need to remove your adsense code, apply for their own adsense account, and then put their own code on the pages.

Handing your account over is likely to get it suspended.

You cannot change the ownership of an adsense account. They have to apply for their account if they don't already have one.

In fact, pull ALL your ads FIRST, not just google but affliate programs or other things like valueclick or tribal.

Let them find their own advertising.

If two accounts have been used on the same site, you and the other person's account will be suspended. and all funds sent back as invalid clicks.

Have you sold the site as including any advertising?

If so, your buyer may not be too pleased to find it stripped out.

Where do you stand if you leave the advertising on - pointing at your account? Would this be legal and/or within the TOS?

It may be wise to talk with G on this one and make sure you have your facts straight. Maybe through them you could arrange for the Adsense account ownership to change - different usernames and passwords - subject to their accepting th enew owners of course.

If the adsense account is in your name, then no you cannot transfer it. If it is in a company name, then I would think yes you can transfer it. I bet you have a personal account, so the answer would be no.

absolute rubbish, my business partner used to run the adsense account on my first site, he stopped it and i opened my own adsense account to use on the same site and had no problem whatsoever, still running 2 years after the changeover.i emailed google and they said it was perfectly ok.

If [the adsense account] is in a company name, then I would think yes you can transfer it.

Nope, You'd have to sell the company. You can't even change the name of the company on an adsense account, even then it's delete first, apply again. And if it's somebody else you can change the order: apply first then change.

Applying for an adsense account if you don't already have one is trivial, just have them go through the motions. Referencing the site as it is today is not a problem, even with ads on it.

That's what I was talking about, but figured he probably didn't have a business account so it didn't matter. But yes, if your adsense account and site are in a business name, you can basically sell/transfer the business to someone else, then they can have control over the business's adsense account. So technically the adsense account didn't change hands, it is always owned by the business, not the individual. If your adsense account is in a business name and you plan on transferring the business, then do ask for more info. There's different kinds of companies, and we'd need to know your setup to see if you can indeed transfer everything over or not.

Whilst i appreciate that we are all trying to give helpful advice, i think this is getting WAY too complicated...
Read the guy's question again ....

Can they open up their own adsense account and register my site?

(after transferring domain ownership)

simple answer....

yes, no problem. (obviously he will remove his own adsense code from the site before the transfer)
