Why only 200 sites allowed in competitive ad filter?

Seems an arbitrary number

As I was watching my Adsense Competative Ad Filter fill up I started wondering why Adsense only allows 200 URL's.

While its all been in the past, and nothing to do with web servers, I have written more than enough code to know that the amount of overhead associated with a program evaluating a list of 200 items vs 400 is infinitesimal, especially considering the speed of today's machines.

With Adsense's eagerness to allow MFA's and the problems that can exist with targeting one would think Adsense could feed publishers a bone and boost the number of URL's allowed.

Maybe a WW member who is a programer can set me straight on this but I would think that the above mentioned calculation when compared to the transmission time invovled with serving an ad would really be a non-issue and not noticed by the site visitor in the least.

Yep - you can't fight city hall!

This question must be asked by so many - has anyone seen a good answer?
