Impact of other ads on Adsense approval chances

is it ok to have other ads/banners there already?

Hi

I'm looking forward to applying for an Adsense account (despite the "cataclysmic" smart pricing development) and was just wondering how much of an impact (if any) pre-existing advertisements would have on the probability of my site being accepted.

Is it common protocol to eliminate (or at least reduce) competing advertising on websites awaiting approval or will this make absolutely no difference except to preclude the possibility of the site making any money during the waiting period?

Presuming it makes zero difference, I also take it as a given that I'll need quite a few pages completed in order to get accepted at all. Therefore, ideally I'd need to fit in specific alternative ads for each and every page. Do many of you do this or do you tend to just fit in a single alternative banner that broadly fits in with the overall website content? Thanks in advance!

Don't worry too much, apply for it.

I don't know exactly what they check, but if your site is well enough to run draw traffic and run other ads, my guess is you'll be accepted.

My site had not more then 20 pages when it was accepted. I think quality and uniqueness is the key. Just make sure your site conforms with

1) AdSense terms
[google.com...]

2) webmaster guidelines.

It's important to conform to the ToS after you are in, not before. e.g. if you now run a competing ad service that adsense doesn't allow under the ToS, there should be no need to turn it off before you get accepted. That need comes only as you add the Google ads.

But it could determine whether you get approved as Google sees a problem immediately and may turn you down.

I would read everything on Google about T&C also TOS, THEN be sure the site conforms to each and every one of them before applying.

When I applied a couple of years ago, I had removed all of my ads just to be on the safe side. You never know which ones they dislike.

Thanks for the tips.

I think I'll take the risk and have something up - it would feel weird having a full site up with zero advertising, solely to please Google. I'll be sure to check that any ads I put up don't violate the TOS. In fact I may just have custom text links to my advertisers (e.g. Top Buys in the side bar, with text links to top merchants, or something of that nature).
