However, I have recently found that when I tracerouted many of these domains, that the resulting ip address is always exactly the same which could be because they all point to the same server. I was thinking that maybe I could just add the ip address and free up much needed filter space by clearing out the domain names.
Has anybody else tried this with any success? Thanks in advance

I LOVE your idea as it would help me getting rid of some of the ugliest advertisers, but I am afraid that your approach won't work, because Google certainly filters by target URL mentioned in the ad, not by target IP address. While for the domain name system both are closely related, I do not see such relation in the Google system, unless the Google developers did a match in their database =and= integrated that into the filter system.
Given the current state of the Filter and the Preview Tool, I don't think this will work. Then again, if it works, please let us know!
