Sitesearch has invalid tags?

What's going on?

I'm getting some weird SiteSearch html. Closing the img tag "</img>" closing the input tag "</input>"

Anyone else see this? I assume it's a mistake?

XHTML. Problem is they're not consistant, so it makes no sense to do half XHTML and half HTML - go one way or the other.
