Making some cents without any clicks on ads

Over the last few months, I have been making a few cents every day despite getting zero clicks. I am also getting more ads for charities, hurricane Katrina, unrelated products such as Advil (picture ad) etc...

I am wondering if there is a connection between the two and if I am getting these cents (like 1-3 cents several times a day) for page impressions with charity ads?

You could be getting some CPM ads running on your site, that way you'd get paid even if there were no clicks.

How do I know I am getting CPM ads?

Also, are CPM ads usually the Hurricane Katrina, insomnia medication, Red Cross etc... types?

How do I know I am getting CPM ads?

Look in your stats: Advanced Reports > Show data by > Individual Ad

and also check the box under the ad type for >

[x] Show data by targeting type - contextual or site

But generally if you are getting paid without clicks, you're getting CPM ads.

As to which ads are CPM, the Advil image ad you mentioned might be one, but the Hurricane help ad is probably as PSA (public Service Ad), we don't get paid for clicks or impressions on PSA ads.

Thanks ken_b!

So if I have a wide box with 4 ads inside, I could get 4 CPMs instead of 2 in case I used the smaller box (assuming all ads are CPM in both boxes of course)?

Or is CPM payout based on the whole box and not the number of different ads inside the box.

CPM ads generally take up all the space in whatever adblock (box) they show up in. So if it's a CPM ad, there will only be one ad showing in that Adblock.
