Buying Traffic with Pop Under Network

I am jeopardizing my AdSense acct?

I currently get 1500 visitors per day to my network of sites. More than half comes from AdWords. I want to get more traffic and found a site that sells 10K new visitors for 30$. They come thru pop under ads. I am wondering has any one tried such traffic? How did your AdSense fare during the campaign? Did Google have any issues with this? I am very much concerned about keeping my AdSense than the addtl. traffic.

I'd stay FAR FAR FAR FAR FAR away from any program that promises visitors via pop-unders, pop-ups, or expired domains. Oftentimes these 'visitors' are generated fraudulently, other times they may not be fraudulent, but at the same time they probably aren't targeted (i.e. they're less likely to make you money). I'd stick with AdWords/Overture (PPC) and SEO to increase your visitor count.

I believe they do, so staying away from this would be a good idea. You can try:

1- Adwords and Overture if the numbers work out {not many publishers can}

2- Creating a pop-up without adsense code that will funnel the visitors to your site only after they click on it. {You will lose a lot of visitors this way as it needs an action}

3- Other traditional methods of advertising {banners come to mind}. I have a friend that creates flash games and I run some ads on the games themselves that take visitors to a page in my site if they click. Not a big traffic source, but just another idea of ways to promote the site.

So I guess the question that arises is whether or not it's now possible to torpedo a competitor's rankings by buying them a bunch of links.

Thats exactly what I had it in mind. So when the popunder shows up, its mysite.com/ladndingpage.htm with no AdSense but has links to mysite.com/index.htm (main page). Only when someone clicks on it, they will see AdSense ads.

Is this 100% safe? What other issues that I need to consider? I don't sell anything on my site. Main revenue is AdSense.

Don't know never tried it myself, but IMHO it should be ok. Then again, I am not signing the checks.

I purchached 40,000 visitors from "targeted expired domains" once. It was cheap, around $30, and I made a special home page for the traffic. My traffic jumped like a rocket but my logs indicated that not one visitor clicked through to my site. You figure that out of 40,000 visitors -even if they were random - at least a few would explore just about any site.

Based on this experience I would say don't waste your time.

The 2-step process is a good start, IMO, but what you are proposing is far from 100% safe. The traffic you get will consist of untargeted, involuntary visitors. The usual rule applies: if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Wow, I was expecting low conversions, but not that low. Even 1% out of curiosity should have happened.

I was thinking that the best way would be to create a graphic file and make all of it clickable.

That is extremely low, but I suppose it's not surprising. Thinking about it, I doubt I have ever clicked on anything on a popunder page. Even by mistake.

I know adwords say we should not put any exit window pop under code (I hope on the landing page only and it makes sense). But not sure Adsense is against popunder traffic. Does not make sense to me. Can any one clarify? And I use exit window popunder code and run adsense as well no issues...

Ad Placement: No AdWords ads or Google search box may be displayed on any domain parking websites, pop-ups, pop-unders, error, registration, or "thank you" pages, or in any email.

That's fairly clear, as far as showing ads directly in a popunder.

Even if the user clicked on some link in the popunder window, I doubt Google would want its ads showing up (and thus its advertisers' sites appearing) in that window. But my opinion is irrelevant. It would be prudent to ask Google about this before going forward.
