ad_client number vs. ad_channel number

I thought I should check through my pages to make sure my Adsense code has not been hacked. In the code itself I see my google_ad_client number which I assume identifies me as a publisher. There is also the google_ad_channel number in the code.

I would assume that I only need to be checking the google_ad_client number? (a quicker and easier check for me than having to verify both)

Assuming there was an error in the google_ad_channel number I would assume the earnings credit would still be given to me the publisher, but the impression/click data would simply not be assigned to the right channel but still to my site as a whole?
