Ideally you should be using the CSS terms like 'normal' or 'large', so that visitors can use their browser to adjust font size to suit them. It's not good to specify font sizes using units like pixels or centimetres, because this stops the users changing font sizes.
If you specify a font size of normal, and you still think that the body text looks too small, then try the next size up. If you're worried that this makes it easy for visitors' eyes to glide past the ads, then make the navigation text on your page roughly the same size as that in the ads, so that visitors at least look at the ads to see what they do. If the ads aren't relevant to them, they won't click on them, but at least they'll have looked.
