Google Ads hiding on pages?

Hi all,

Assume I'm looking at a generic domain with a www index page. On the front page, they have a list of search results on the left, and topics on the right - pretty normal so far.

The URL results on the left are hidden from my browser bar (presumably by javascript), but a frame view indicates they all point to pages2.googlesyndication.com/blah

I'd like to know:

1) How they legitimately hide the "Ads by Gooooooooogle" line (if they do, or the "Sponsored Links" title etc.

2) Is there a rough estimate of how your rank in Alexa would allow you to gauge unique visits (or at least traffic) each month?

The website you are looking at may be a preminum publisher - they have different options to the rest of us and may have the option to hide the ads by goooooogle line.

Not too sure about the Alexa question though. Alexa relies on stats fed back from those who have the Alexa toolbar installed. The toolbar may be representative of your traffic, but it may also NOT be representative. It could be that more (or less) of your visitors have it installed than average, making the stats Alexa give not that helpful. But you can get the number of unique visits from your logfiles in any case. That's what I do, and the logfiles are your most reliable source of information on your sites traffic.
