Hi all, just having a look at one of our sites to see if there's areas we can improve our monetisation (if that's a word!). I'm considering adding google-pack referrals - but I just wanted to gauge a bit of feedback first.

How have people found the google referral scheme compares to adsense and the adsense for search? Do certain products perform better than others (ie, Picasa over Google Pack), or is it niche specific? How does referals compare against the other products - ie, if a site was making $1000 / month from adsense, what sort of money would it expect to make from referrals? Apologies again if that's niche specific...

Anyways, thoughts apprecaited as always.

Hi Fuzzyfish, your questions really cant be answered because so much depends on your site and your userbase. Referrals are basically a CPA model and a very very different beast then just getting clicks.

We have quite a bit of experience now with the referrals and they work decently if you have a user base that is
1.looking to perform the required action.
2.interested in said vertical ie digital photos / spyware etc.

The text links work the best out of the many formats we have tested and integrating them into your site should yield you the highest conversion ratios.

All in all they count for a extra 25% of our year end gross now and that isnt peanuts so give it a shot, what do you have to loose?
