Changing Backgroud colour

Can you change BG colour to clear?

I have a site that has a distinctive wallpaper in the background, and it is very difficult to blend my adverts into the page without them sticking out like a sore thumb. Is there any way to make the backgound colout transparent, or alternatively the same as the wallpaper?

trannack-

Here is a post (October 2005) from AdSenseAdvisor on the subject:

everhopefull -

We ask that you do not use a transparent background for your ads, and instead stick to the color choices available in your adsense account.

As you may know, modifying the adsense code beyond the options available in the 'Layout' section of your account is prohibited by adsense program policies (http://www.google.com/adsense/policies

Thanks for asking,

ASA

I don't think that's possible.
But frankly, I've never seen a respectable site with background images. (no offense)
Background images make it hard to read the text on them. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Google sometimes puts background images in the ads, so it can't be that bad I guess.

Do they still do that, by the way?

Hi plasma,

Take that back you fiend!

I do, in some cases, use *carefully selected* background images that maintain readability of the foreground text! (Specifically, all very light above (say) 70% grey, with very reduced high-frequency components, eg heavily "smoothed".)

But in the area that I drop signficant text or ads into I use a solid (usually white) background.

If you really want people to read the ads to click on one then the fewer things that might reduce readability the better I guess.

The background I am talking about is not an image, it is more like a very slight patterned effect - it does not in any way detract from the text or readablity of the text. It is more like a faint texture. All the other text and articles on my page work very well on top of this effect, just wondered if it was possible in any way to have the ads with the same background without a breach of TOS. I'm not trying to decieve anyone, just trying to carryout what Adsense advise as blending the colours on the page. Sounds like it is a no-goer, just thought I'd ask on the off-chance! Thanks anyway.
