Hi everyone,

It's that time again... We have another round of routine system maintenance scheduled for Saturday, September 23 from 10:00am - 2:00pm PDT.

As many of you know from past maintenance, you may not be able to access your account during this time. However, your Google ads will continue to display, and all clicks and impressions will be counted as usual.

Thanks for your patience!

Did we always have 200*200 ads? If so... Why did I never use them? :( ;-)

Nope, they only showed up a few days ago.

oops... I meant earnings up 200 cent. ;)

by the way... checking my stats (not Adsense stats), I noticed that last night my page views went up a massive 500% (REALLY). I wonder if it has anything to do with SNAFU.

Anyone notice the same?

When you generate your Adsense code, there is now a comment inserted immediately before the channel value, like this:

//2006-09-23: channelname
google_ad_channel ="9999999999";

The date & channelname is inserted as a comment.

yes... i see it.
mebbe this is in response to Ann's experiment a while back?
mebbe Ann did rock Google's Titanic a bit?

Yep, there seems to be something going on with the channel names. I've removed a lot from my site and have seen a positive revenue shift. The date stamp on the ads makes me wonder what's coming next?

I find this comment useful. This makes experimentation easier because it frees me from the task of recording the coded number and its corresponding channel name.

Doing a global search of all my pages for a particular 10 digit number is relatively easy but when conducting multiple experiments with placement etc., it is easy to become confused.

This feature makes my life easier and less confusing. Whether it is actually worth all the extra bandwidth will never be known...

The date stamp on the ads makes me wonder what's coming next?

Surely their internal channel logs have always been date stamped, the date stamp within the ad code itself must be for the benefit of the publisher.

Yep, there seems to be something going on with the channel names.

Just for accuracy, the change existed prior to the Saturday downtime. At least for us.
