It's certainly not a way to become rich quick. At least not for me.
You need time, and dedication. I couldnt handle working full time and then doing my sites. Now i work on my sites everyday and update it with new content. You need a site that will bring you visitors back to your site. First you need to think of something that interests you. Don't make sites just to put adsense on it and hope you will earn hundreds of dollars. Go with a website content that you most know about..example: if you're a mustang enthusiast make a mustang site, if you like animals make an animal site.
Before spending hours or days building a site think about ok when i'm done with the site how am i going to get visitors to it.
Too many people make a site but have no clue how to get visitors to it. You can spend some $$$ and advertise it but none of us want to spend money we all just want to make money.
Also if you want alot of visitors and an active site think about the sites that are very popular right now and try to compete with them. There are millions of people out there and not everyone is going to use the same site so even if you see big sites out there that you think there is no competition you're wrong. There is and it might not get as big as that site but you can still make good living out of it.

You can also get banned, sometimes it seems like you might not even do anything and they still ban you. Adsense is a blessing and you should be happy while you make money but dont plan your future on it.
anyone made a 1000$ in a month?
Yes, there are a lot of people who do, myself included :)
But like bbmed ( I think ) I had my site before adsense... I worked for pretty much nothing, just because I was interested in the topic.
Find something you are interested in and learn about it, and make a website about it. Make sure it's quality. "get rich quick" stuff doesn't work. Work works.
Maybe you COULD do a site about guitars.... when I started my site it certainly wasn't the best-- or even that good. But as you work you get better. Start it with basic info, then later you can do more in-depth articles, interviews, places to buy them, etc...
But I am getting closer at it each day thanks to optimising, backlinking and seo and at the moment the site (actually the forum) is paying my loan for the house I bought 3 years ago. It might not seem a big summ but when you no longer have to worry about the loan, then that's a good thing in the end :).
The next step is getting the actual content site doing well as well. So I think I will be touching the 1000$ withing the next months :).
And I have plans for starting a new site as well to generate some extra. I already have the content divided in seperate pages, next is the layout, working it all out and launching it. If it makes me 5 dollars a day, I will be a happy man. After that it can only grow. And who knows, perhaps it will pay my second house as well :).
I have been extremely fortunate and have earned a very significant sum from adsense. But it hasn't been easy, I have put in 17hour days for a lengthy period of time to get to this stage. Has it been worth it? Absolutely. If it stopped tomorrow would I be in the poo? I would probably be absolutely gutted, but hey, the money has been great while it lasted - now got no mortgage after 18 months, and yes my other revenues will cover all my overheads.
My advice - work hard, play hard, because you never know what tomorrow may bring - apart from anoter hangover that is!
Our site is about 7 years old, definitely not an MFA, all unique regularly updated/ added content and has only had Adsense for a couple of years now. Our income has been consistently rising and recently we were making around $200 per day, sometimes well over, but in this recent Google shake up/ update or whatever you like to call it, our site has vanished from the Google SERPs and we have now dropped to only around $20 per day! Talk about shock! Hopefully we will make it back up there and soon... but who knows!
So, plan and be prepared for unexpected situations like this!
I run a site for a community arts organisation and the CTR is very poor. Adsense pays for the hosting and domain name but no more than that. IF we achieved the CTRs that reported for other areas I would be sending the treasurer a small but welcome cheque several times a year.
