Research smartpricing, this may answer your question, if not I'm sure someone will help soon.

What it means is that those particular AdWords advertisers have bid an amount that results in your getting paid an average of two cents per click to have those particular ads appear on that site.

Well, I'm selling nothing. Neither do I have a community site. It's educational. Ecpm rates around $1 are my mileage. Your mileage may vary. Not everyone is making a $100/day.

It sure sounds low (my average is $0.30 to $0.40 per click)

Try using the AdSense Preview Tool on your site to see who is advertising. There may be some MFAs you want to filter out with the competitive ad filter.

Otherwise you need to consider adding or changing content to attract some better value advertisers.

Your average sounds high, so it makes sense that his sounds low to you :-).

It all depends on the category and keywords.

30c-40c is to be expected (or even low) for say loans but 1c-2c may be normal for a forum or community.
