For some reason my EPC have doubled in the past month or so. Which is good. But why would it double? did I get un-smartpriced?

Only changes I've made is layout-wise increasing my CTR, and adding new content more often from other authors...

unfortunately my PR has dropped a notch. But my visitors have remained steady and earnings gone up. So I guess I shouldn't worry?

I've heard a theory that as your site improves and matures, it is allocated more of the better paying ads.

Personally I'm sceptical - but your data supports the theory. (Bet there are others out there that have gone the other way though)

Yep, I believe that's the way it works so long as one keeps adding more unique and relevant content.

The ads I see in my leaderboard are the same that Google shows at the top of their search results page so I reckon I can't get much better paying ads...assuming I'm correct of course!

So does it happen automatically? after a year, or so much time, your site is suddenly considered higher quality and payed higher?
Or does the Google optimization team noticing your site have anything to do with it...?

absolutely cannot support that theory. all in all epc did not increase since all those years. going up and down.

my EPC have doubled [...] Only changes I've made is [...] increasing my CTR

epc up, ctr up? lucky guy..

Wow, I guess Smartpricing is now a synonym for getting paid less, since the folks who get paid more because of SmartPricing rarely post (if they're smart).

Why would it double? Why on earth would it stay the same? Maybe your traffic is more qualified (do you really know exactly where your traffic comes from over time? I bet not -- and the difference between ranking for "widget repair" and "widget polishing" can be huge). Maybe advertisers came and went (as they are able to do minute-by-minute if they want, let alone over the course of weeks and months).

Sorry if I used smartpricing wrong... it's just that everyone I've seen that has posted about it has complained about it dropping their earnings!

Perhaps my rise in EPC was due to smartpricing.

I just thought doubling was unusual... I'd seen fluctuations in the past year but never double.

Yes, I do believe my traffic could be more qualified even if in quantity it has stayed relatively stable. I have been ranking for more niche keywords due to new content I've added.

My EPC average is double that of a year ago.

Ok so there are more advertisers in my sector etc however my earnings have definitely not gone down!
