Adsense and unsuitable content

Are the programme policies site wide or are they exclusive to pages.

Hello!

Not sure if this has been covered or not, but I was wondering if anyone could clear up a matter regarding the programme policies.

I refer in particular to this bit...

"Site may not include: Violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organsation "

Much of my content is written by visitors to the site (lucky me), and whilst most of it is appropriate and can be published with some tidying up and a little bit of tweaking, occasional I get content that I would really like to publish partly because it is interesting and partly because it is a bit controversial and could open up a good debate.

However, I feel that the content may be categorised as "advocating against a group" and I guess my question is - can I pull the ads from the page with the questionable content, or does the fact that my site may include a page that may fall foul of the T&C's affect the suitability of the whole site, even though the page in question does not contain any google ads.

I understand that sometimes it may be a bit of a grey area, but I tend to err on the side of caution as the programme is my sole source of income at the moment.

Sorry the post is a bit long winded, but any help to clarify this would be gratefully appreciated.

Provided your site has some moderation, I reckon there's little chance of a problem.

BUT - if you get people losing control and upsetting each other, you cannot rule out someone reporting you to Adsense out of plain old fashioned spite - and if your site was in breech, you could be cut off without a penny.

Unlikely - but possible. Without a complaint, I don't think you need worry, unless prohibited topics are a regular feature.

Personally, if in doubt, I'd keep Adsense to pages I control - forums, opinion pages and such rarely get keyword-specific enough to generate good adsense ads, and most forums have a pretty poor clickthru rate, anyway.

I would pose the question to Adsense and get it from the horses mouth. I am sure there was a thread several weeks back of someone losing his account because of the content - which was about war or something. Could be worng but better safe than sorry.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback on this. The article in this case was about a prominent religion and fairly recent events, I'll leave you to imagine the scenario. As it happens I didn't publish although I very much wanted to.

Any thoughts on the page versus site thing though? If I take google ads on a page, can I have what I like there?

Thanks

Trannack, I remember a thread on here a couple of weeks back from someone who had started a blog about a particular war. When that war ended, traffic disappeared, which left him looking for the theme for a new site.

That was probably it Car Guy. Read so many threads recently I've got a tad confused. :) However, when it comes to Adsense, I still think if you are in any doubt about doing something on your site it is worth sending Adsense an email. There are just too many threads about getting booted - and in my opinion it is just not worth the risk and/or hastle, especially if you rely on Adsense for your main sorce of income.

All I can add is, "Read the terms you agreed to when you signed up for AdSense."

"Site may not include: Violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organsation "

It plainly says site, not page. Better read them again. Good luck.
