do you think a longer user visit duration is more likely to generate more clicks and thus more income?
It depends on the type of content, the audience, and what that audience wants.
If Joe User is spending 30 minutes instead of 5 minutes reading and responding to threads on a forum about local politics, he probably isn't any more likely to click on an ad than he would have been when he arrived for the first time. Why? Because he isn't looking to buy anything; he's looking for a political debate.
If, on the other hand, Joe User has arrived on an in-depth widget review at steves-widgets.com and reads all 10 pages of the review, or if he's searched Google for "Croesus cruise reviews" and reads all 15 pages of a cruise review at sailingthesevenseaswithsuzie.com, he may be a good prospect (and an interested prospect) for widget dealers or cruise-travel agents. Why? Because he's in a buying mindset: He wants to buy a widget or a cruise, and there's a good chance that the review will stimulate him to take action by clicking on a relevant ad.
What interest me is visit duration has an opposite relationship with SE traffic. Look like to me the type of traffic does matter to the earning, and in my case, it favorite direct/repeat traffic instead of SE traffic.
