Labor Day
Just how many holidays a year do you guys get? It seems to be every few weeks!
I don't know about advertisers pausing their campaigns, in my area. But there will definitely be less surfing, from Friday afternoon through to Tuesday morning.
But look at the bright side. The next real holiday weekend in the US isn't until Thanksgiving, at the end of November! Sure, there's Columbus Day, but that's not a holiday for everyone.
Opti, the US does have more "bank holidays" than the UK, but then most US workers don't get as much holiday time as Europeans do. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that US workers get about half the paid holiday time that UK and other Europeans do.

Slump city, here we come! Will it be carnage and devastation these next four days or just a dip and a blip? ;)
These next four days are somewhat important because they represent 13% of the month. But it's temporary and not a long term slump, so that's reassuring.
Less potential visitors online = less advertisers bidding = lower bid prices and less ad inventory. And then the next thing that follows this is a greater-than-normal amount of crappy spammy ads (served up from the bottom of the barrel) and lower ecpm.
Others who already got their vacation fix stay at home and do things like work on the yard/house (me). Except I didn't go on vacation, I am always on vacation.
So you have lower traffic but higher conversions from the ones that stay home, especially big ticket items.

Strange phenomenon that I often see on Saturday and Sunday. Lower traffic, but decent earnings due to a higher CTR and EPC. And now it's happening on a Friday.
Friday page impressions and clicks down by 20%
Today so far not even reached 25% of a normal Saturday yet my logs look only slightly less than normal!
