New adsense report columns - CPM, USD

CPM good, currency bad

Adsense have added two new features to the reports. The first is that they are now showing CPM. This is great for 'at a glance' reporting.

However, they now list USD in front of every number, which is a royal pain. Not sure if this is true for everyone in the world, maybe just non-US. I can't see how having a USD prefix to every $value on every line adds anything. Now to process the numbers I have to add extra process steps to remove the USD from the spreadsheet. Plus it makes it harder to see the actual numbers. Anyone else seeing this?

I'm in the U.S., and I don't see a "USD" prefix, only "$".
For example: $x.xx

perhaps that has something to do with possible new currency options for payouts? (I can dream can't I)

The CPM information is great--it saves dragging out the calculator, it's the most useful metric we have, and it provides a new topic of conversation for this forum. :-)

FWIW, my effective CPM this month is higher than last month's and just a few cents below my all-time average. That's better than I would have guessed after the introduction of "smart pricing" in early April.

I'm in Australia, and I'm seeing the USD. I agree that's a pain - it makes reading the numbers harder. Surely one "USD" reminder at the top or bottom of the column would be enough, having one for every entry in two columns is just a little redundant!

Can we post our CPM average over say a month?! (I'm guessing no. You include the Impressions and CPM and you tell every one how much you made!)

No. It's a violation of the TOS to post any numbers from your reports. However, you can talk generally about trends, as in "My EPC is down 10% this month" or "My AdSense CPM is 50% higher than what I'm earning from FastClick."

Am in Cambodia, not seeing the USD - but hey we use dollars here half the time ;-)

In New Zealand I'm not seeing the USD in any reports and agree it would be a pain. Having effective CPM in there is great.

Am seeing the USD in UK - tis damn annoying.

Although if it means they might be moving to paying in other currencies i can live with it :)

I'm not too sure if I understand this "Effective CPM" because my figures are all over the place.

Can anyone explain how they compute it and what it means?

As some have suggested Google may be using USD as a preliminary to paying out in GBP or whatever. But it could also indicate a move into areas where $ is ambiguous. Hong Kong which has the HK$? They are certainly experimenting with Hong Kong ads as can be seen by the preview tool.

I'm in Australia but I don't see USD. (My ISP occasionally gets IP addresses that look like they are in California, which could explain it)
