Maybe YOU were deactivated, but Google was not!
Now they collect 100% of the marbles. Cool!

Maybe "deactivation" simply means that you will no longer get paid. Maybe it is no problem for Google, if you continue to run Adsense ads. Maybe it remains up to you, whether or not you want to work for Google for free.

I too, know of a "deactivated" site, which continues to run Adsense. Perhaps a percentage of webmasters get disgusted, lose interest, and just leave the ads up. Maybe Google counts on this. Why should Google do anything, when they are making EVEN MORE money than before (their cut PLUS your cut)?

This is very interesting.
I was actually wondering the same thing as I have seen some webisites with deactivated accounts still showing ads.

They generally block on a domain level, but I find it interesting they aren't blocking the entire account.

Yeah almost seems like a scam to me. If google terminates an account with the cause being "invalid clicks" which is basically saying "we just dont want to pay and want to have more money for our IPO" then they should not allow the ads to show, why would they want ads to show that are giving them "invalid" clicks

So what’s the difference then?
The ads are still showing, so basically the only difference is that now Google gets 100% of money!?

I've noticed that you don't need a channel ID in your code to get ads. I bet a few people have forgot to put that in there, but Google still displays ads and one could assume 100% in their pocket as well.

Yes, Hellacool.
Given Google's mantra, "Do No Evil", one would expect them to TERMINATE their relationship with YOU, AS WELL AS terminate your relationship to them. Isn't that the ethical thing to do? In other words,
Google is saying, "If you are so stupid as to continue to run the Adsense script on your pages, then we will be more than happy to collect ALL the money.

I believe that Google is breaking the law, by continuing to run adsense ads on sites that they have "deactivated". When one puts up Adsense ads, I believe that there is an "implied contract", consisting of the TOS. I believe that in contract law, there IS NO contract, if there is no consideration. One party to a contract may not continue to benefit from an agreement, which THEY THEMSELVES terminated, in which there is NO CONSIDERATION for the other party. I'm not an attorney, but I remember something like this from a contract law class I took.

Even if this practice does not violate California contract law, this is most certainly a violation of ethics. I thought that Google had an "Ethics Department". Where is it?

IMHO, it's probably nothing more than an oversight or screw-up. The obvious solution is to remove the AdSense code from your pages. After all, why would you want to display ads if you aren't going to get paid for them? You might also want to e-mail AdSense Support and point out the oversight.

Mike Schmitz,
I dont think it matters if you have a channel or not.
If you don't chose a channel, earning will show as agregate, but you will stil make money.
