Site targeted eCPM up 100x since system maintenance

Is it just me or has a major bug been fixed?

My sites have consistantly received about $0.50 per day of revenue from site targeted ads, with a reported eCPM of about $0.33. I knew that overall eCPM went up after the system maintenance yesterday, but this morning I realized it was because site targeted ads are now paying about 100 times greater than what they had been previously.

Is this some kind of fluke? $50 a day is not enough to hire any new employees, but it will be pretty substantial over time. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Oops, I missed this post and started a new thread. Yes, my eCPM is way up. It's making me nervous... but if this is here to stay, let me be the first to say "Hallelujah!"

Aren't the two of you reporting different things? One is a change in the eCPM rate for site-targeted ads, and the other is a change in the average click value.

Doesn't seem to be a global change. There are some mentions of typical results in other threads, and I've seen no change.

Maybe just one advertiser going overboard?

On my best-performing site, CTR is within a typical range but eCPM is up by 4-5x normal. It's never been half that much before. What's going on? The ads are mostly the same as I've always seen. It's not a high-paying niche at all. Since we just had an update to AdSense I'm thinking maybe something changed, but not by this much! Not that I'm complaining but it's got me a little nervous. Anyone else?

FourDegreez, are you saying that your overall eCPM is way up, or is this primarily because your site targeted eCPM is way up?

My overall eCPM is up, but mostly because of the site targeted ads paying much better and it's my site targeted eCPM that's up 100x. CTR is basically the same. Granted site targeted ads are just a small percentage of overall ads, but at this rate it will add up quite nicely.

I can't imagine this is a result of just a few advertisers as it is spread out over about 100,000 pages with varying subject matter and 5 different ad formats.

Overall eCPM. How does one view site-targeted data?

I think people are delusional on the maintainance upgrades. However, I would like to say that the value of click appears ot have increased a small fraction but this is likely down to the winter coming up not the maintainance upgrades (unless google has really made a change to our ads)

Overall eCPM. How does one view site-targeted data?

Go to advanced reports, in the drop-down box below "Show data by" selected "individual ad", then a check box will appear below that allows you to check "Show data by targeting type - contextual or site".

My site targeted eCPM has now dropped to about 60x what it had been before Saturday.

As usual with these threads I'm not seeing any detectable change whatever. Based on the way it's dropping for you, I imagine it'll be back to close to normal by tomorrow.

I'm seeing the same thing -- a spike in site-targetted eCPM -- but it looks to me like one advertiser going overboard, not anything systemic.

My CTR went up slightly, and my eCPM has doubled since Friday.

Just wish I had more impressions... They just keep going down and down...

Just like Sunday, today started with a huge spike very close to the 100x mark, and then it tapered off by mid day at around 50x and by the afternoon site targeted ads stop showing altogether. I would have to assume that this is because I am getting paid so much more to display site targeted ads, the advertisers budgets run out before the end of the day.. which I don't mind at all, I just don't want to keep displaying site targeted ads at the old rate...

Things are back to normal for me, and BTW it would appear I have no site-targeted ads.

Oh well it was cool while it lasted.
