What If The Adsense Program Would Be Terminated Today?

How Would That Affect Your Life?

We keep our fingers crossed every day and pray that tomorrow will bring us another fine day of good Adsense earnings.

But what if Google decides to pull the plug and terminates the Adsense program? How would that affect your life?

I still got my lousy daytime job, making enough money with it to pay for the bills. But if Adsense would disappear I would surely lose some good cash that I use for nice trips to places like Paris, London and Rome. I also would lose a great deal of fun and excitement in my life if I couldn't run my Adsense "business" anymore. The future somehow would look less bright and I really would do anything to find programs that could replace Adsense.

What would it do to you if G decides to pull the plug?

Probably sigh in resignation then relax for the first time in a couple of years ;)

Continue to run my site and fill up the Adsense-less holes with other content.

I had my site before Adsense, I'd still have it if it went away. My goal is to keep it as incremental income, and not primary income, as I have so little control over how it works (other than how I develop my websites)

How would that affect Google's life? It would be a suicide for Google.

Ain't gonna happen. I'd be more concerned with dying of a stroke, cancer, or a heart attack. Why worry about doomsday scenarios when real-life problems are so much more likely?

Still, if I didn't have AdSense income, I'd probably be earning even more from affiliate sale and display ads (since I'd use the AdSense leaderboard space for something else). So my income would be down, but it wouldn't be out.

Ditto what netmeg said. I had my sites long before AdSense and have other revenue streams. I would probably look into other contectual networks to replace AdSense.

AdSense is a major revenue source for a company that I consult for. So it would be a faster response to fill up the lost income with another source- again probably jump into another contextual network.

I would have go on a wild rampage to replace the G ads with Y ads (already have an account, used sparingly for now).

I had websites before Adsense, I will still have them after Adsense. I have affiliate income coming in as well.

This is not going to happen but for the sake of argument if it did, I'd just have to spend more energy getting direct advertisers. In the end my income would probably remain the same but it would be more work.

Afilliate sales and selling direct text ads.

I guess I'd start accepting the offers I get in my email from advertizers that want to do a direct deal.

Probably have to encourage a lot more of those too.

Sell direct ads, just like we used to do before AdSense.

I would miss almost everybody here, the pip, banned threads, the repeated questions, the evntual 'what is an MFA', the endless arguments..

But the rest would be pretty much the same.

(In a beach resort right now, and guess what was the second thing I checked after the earnings?)

Go back to selling my products instead of giving them away with ad pages.

Go back to work (freelance).

Adsense is equal to both combined.

I'll think about that when it happens. Meanwhile, we enjoy while it's there. How long will it last. we don't know. Just like other webmasters here, we were doing fine before Adsense came. We can do the same thing. But of course, we will MISS the Big Bucks.

What would I do? Well I'd definitely keep my day job LOL. I'd move my web sites all to shared hosting to save money, then I'd add more affiliate links for places like Amazon, and I'd look for another revenue source. AdSense is by FAR making me more $$$$ than anything on my sites so I'd prefer to not think about this happening :-) Maybe the question should be What would you do if you were banned today LOL We see those threads often enough!

If Adsense was terminated, I would see about a 30% drop in my total earnings.

I long ago diversified my ad partners. So If I add in YPN and my earnings are 50% less than Google, then my total income would drop only 15%. 15% is quite large, so I might have to look at some other big players and/or selling my own ad space.

I am just starting down this road an the thought of depending entirely on Google for anything,

Adsense income, natural traffic, or even search engine traffic is frankly disturbing.

I really would like to know, why don't people talk more about affiliate networks, YPN etc,,

I am having shockingly bad results with the affiliate network, but I can't imagine giving it up to go entirely google,,

Aside from products you sell, na aside from adsense income,
do tell, do you giants of the web make dough with the affiliate networks,,,

Ummm... I guess I'd see how fast I could code up an automated, auction-based system to place text ads on publishers' websites. ;-)

Adsense is less than 10% of revenues so it wouldn't be too big of a hit.

They do, on other forums such as:

Yahoo Publisher Advertising Network

No they don't they just mention how they spent years , yes year earning either a few dollars or zero dollars from ,,, some affiliatenetwork

Actually, i take your meaning, thats the forum for affiliate chat, but that forum is dead, if anyone makes serious dough from affiliate adverts, they've all given up work an are lying on a boat in palm beach or the bahamas :-)

Wouldn't be a disaster for my site but a couple of "free" services that I use display Adsense ads. If they didn't find alternative revenue streams I would probably have to pay.

I would gain back about 45 minutes every day that I now spend on checking stats and forums.

I'd have to go back to paying my AdWords & Yahoo/Over ads out of my own pocket for my B&M business.

As it is now AS covers all my advertising costs.

I would switch to whom ever picked up all of G's advertisers. It would become obvious who did so it would be just a matter of switching code to YPN or MS. That worse case scenario has already been planned for and can be executed on all of my sites within a few hours.

I guess my life would be affected if the revenues dropped significantly after the switch, but then again, it could happen with AS as well.
