Lego blocks in Adsense?

Small images appearing in left of my full width ads

Just noticed it today when I was doing the usual MFA stalk and hunt - a small square on the left of the advert block with blue / green lego blocks (2x2 configuration).

What is this?

Do Lego blocks have anything to do with your niche or mentioned in any way on your site?

I've had pictures come up a couple of times at the top of the wide skyscraper I had up previously and the picture I had was not of lego blocks, but was a picture of something exactly related to my niche and my site. Very well targeted actually.

I am assuming that is what you are seeing.

Recently, I have seen a small image (75 x 62 pixels) at the left side of a leaderboard containing three text ads. The picture was so-so on target for the page, but I think it definitely drew attention to the ads (and I always thought this was not allowed).

I like it.

Its the new Adsense feature called Vertical Images where an image takes the place of an ad within the ad unit

Lego blocks aren't -really- focused to my site, other than that my site is all about modelling/building.

Fortunately the adverts that showed up were highly focused, bang on perfect for the pages.

I agree, they are great adverts, definately draws a lot of attention to them.

Sounds like someone at the Adsense team is going to save me the trouble of hunting for my own targeted images.
