I don't remember giving them my address, but maybe they have a reason. Are you in the US? Maybe it's some kind of validation thing. I've had my account almost ten years so they may have added that requirement.

I applied for a business account 4-5 years ago (already had a personal one) and I had to submit an address. They sent me out a form letter with a verification code that I had to enter in my account. I guess it's to verify that you are domiciled where you say you are domiciled.

Going back to the day AdSense was first made available to all us publishers in June, 2003 we had to provide all these details.
How else would we have been paid?
Today? I would expect they would still want these details. You aren't ever going to get any AdSense or other affiliate account anonymously.
