I was once adviced to wait with putting ads on my site untill it had started getting some traffic. The logic being that other webmasters would be more inclined to link to it if it was ad free.

What is your take on this? When you start a new site do you put ads on it on day one or wait untill you have x many visitors?

Yes, no exception to the rule no matter how low the traffic, why waste time?

Others include their AdSense at a different time for their own reasons.

I tend to wait until after any link marketing stage - as you say, and this is also my experience, it's easier to get links when your site is "information only".

The same can be said for traffic, particularly on forum sites - get it up and running first.

Hi Guys

I've just set up a site that involves a lotta asp.net code and I am always optimising the code, an sometimes when to code is transferred online, from my offline testing rig, I notice unintended results,,, what i mean is that i am constantly reviewing the site to make sure its working

I put adsense on it a week ago an as I was doing this I noticed something about "you will not do anything to create impressions"

I put adsense on anyway, all is fine , so far, but my question is this, how do you review/test your site's online when its got adsense on it, without annoying google,

Do I have to write to them or something

Normal work/usage of your site shouldn't be a problem. Google would expect webmasters to update and otherwise do work on their site.

If you feel that you will be going over the realms of what might be considered normal, you could contact Google and enquire. This might help put your mind at ease.

Thanks for your input. Guess there are two schools then. I was thinking about waiting for up to a year before I put text ads. Now however I´ve figured I can use images of widgets directly related to what my articles are about, that are provided by an affiliate program.
The site looks better with those images and since they are ads perhaps the damage is already done, so to speak. Another hint I remember in regards to link exchange, if anyone is interested, is that its best to be female. Either be a woman, have a wife/girlfriend/female employe do the link marketing for you or explore your feminine side and take up a cute nickname :)
