I have no idea why the sudden fall.
Would it be a stupid idea to cancel my Adsense-account and then in two weeks or so to reapply? Would then the history of my account still be there?
The Adsense system is great - if we only can get rid of those who abuse it, apparently uncontrolled.

Probably, and there's no guarantee that Google would readmit you. In fact, they very well might not readmit you, and for good reason: Why would they want a publisher who's wasted their time and money by resigning from the network and reapplying? Especially when, if you weren't happy with your earnings, you could have simply removed the AdSense code from your pages?
Durned if you do and durned if you don't!

then if you remove your ads for awhile to get rid of a problem you can be banned for too few impressions (as detirmined by Google...:))
"Can be" and "will be" are two different things. Careful, or you'll start a panic, and somebody might get hurt in the stampede. :-)
Sorry for your troubles GP.
Having had a terrible run with adsense, going steadily downward since November, I have gone back over my own actions over the past few months to when the slide began.I think I found the one thing that has been escaping me though like the forest hiding the trees I just couldn't see it.
At this time I will not say what it is until I give it at least a weeks test...don't want to lead anyone in a false direction and the idea has never, to my knowledge, been discussed in here.
Have already begun the test and in 4 and a half hours I am showing a little improvement but I don't want it to be just wishful thinking.
When I feel certain I am on to something I will start a thread to tell others about it.
Here's hoping!
A new account will do nothing, though I don't beleive you've been smartpriced, there is no way to make any hypothesis without getting some stats togethor.
After six months in Google and an average (very constant) EPC of 12 cents my earnings have are down because of falling EPC (9 cents during the last ten days which is a lot for me with 4000-5000 clicks per month!).
A drop like that may also be due in part to a change in advertisers or bid prices. For me it seems normal to have variations like that on only several thousand clicks, especially if it's just from one site or one topic area.
