What is the logic behind report lagging?

No data for the past two days

I simply don't understand why google wants to delay reporting stats for so long and what they are trying to hide and to gain by doing so. Do you think they are busy, not have enough computing power? No. Totally unbearable.

If i guess correctly-

Report data is in a queue that hsa to be processed to ensure no invlaid clicks are being made, etc. The actual activity on your site, impressions, clicks, etc is not the same as what adsense gives you credit for. THey may take out impressions for any IP that has over 20, whatever.

The data is not updated right as it happens, but has to be sent through a varification process. This would enable them to "tweak the algo" as way to many people love to say around here a lot more easily.

They are not doing it for their benefit, but to prevent fraud, so i guess it is the benefit of adwords clients really.

I would think that this processing is quite robust and data can be backed up in line waiting to be processed.

Thanks Chris. your guess makes me feel better. But two days without any data is really unreasonable. This never happened before. Does anybody experience the same now?

What kind of traffic do you get. I have seen that the lower the traffic, the longer it may take (which is kind of strange)

But two days without any data is really unreasonable.

Are you sure you are not viewing "Channel data"? That information is two days behind.
"Aggregate data" should be up to date.
