What happens if you accidentally click your own ad? I know it says it's prohibited, so what do they do if you click your own ad once?

HA HA HA

That is funny Blaze - Results 1 - 10 of about 1,510 from "webmasterworld.com for click own adsense"

Maybe it DOES get asked a lot! Thats 1500 more pages Webmasterworld has in the index though. Slap adsense on these sites and you could do quite well!

after one click you should report it immediately and ask for forgiveness and promise not to do such dirty thing again.

... and buy some pills to prevent heart attack...

Welcome to WW, mcg321.

As you may have gathered from the tone of the previous posters, this topic has been discussed many times before in the AdSense forum.

As to your own predicament, there are those around here who declare that they have clicked on their own ads before without any repercussions from Google, while there are others who are so paranoid that they no longer even click on other site's AdSense ads.

If you're truly concerned about any negative effects from clicking on your own ads simply drop Google a quick note. You'll probably receive a form letter, but at least it's on record.

Google employees must all be laughing about the people sending emails to them, because they clicked one advertisement... :-)
It's silly, you certainly won't be kicked because you clicked on it. However the support person might get annoyed by these people and decide to kick them because they spam the support system and cost more to support than they bring in.

I clicked on an ad by mistake on day 1, and not since. I figure if Google have the technology to detect that you are clicking your own ads, then that technology (hopefully) is intelligent enough to figure out that if you did it just the once it was probably an accident and fogivable.

Maybe if you did it twice then they would send round the heavy mob?

Nah! With how Google works now just put up a spammy directory that just LINKS to all of those, it'll be #1 and clean up on AdSense.

If you want to know what happens when you click twice ..... just c l i c k one more time, just one more little c l i c k, just ..... you get the idea. Nothing, till you click just once more, then BANG!

So, stop that :)

Hmm... I recently signed up for adsense on a 1 page site with the intention of using the account for other sites later. The site gets no traffic so for the heck of it clicked my own ad 3 times (different actual ad each time.) Well somehow I don't think Guido is gonna breaka my legsa for 15 cents. I don't ever intend to do this again but I really wouldn't worry about one click.

Haven't you guys seen the Mark Messier ad, "You can't stop at just one click, ah er, chip".

Guess you had to be there.
