I noticed an article in an Australian newspaper about people earning extra cash for clicking on Google Ads. In India, they can apparently earn $100-$200 a month.

<snip>

What are the repercussions for the rest of us?

I can't comment on every site that comes up in that search, but in general I believe this is a "paid-to-surf" type of deal unrelated to AdSense.

being an indian, I can vouch for the fact that 200$ is absolutely not the amount that these companies pay. Nasscom and other IT agencies are strictly against this sort of thing and come down heavily on these people. there have beena couple of frauds also where these companies just took the moolah and disappeared, leaving quite a few people in the lurch. would you belv it they charge registration fees of about 300$. It takes 3 months to work that off. so 100$ per month. which is also something that very few people get paid actually. their targets are graphical banner ads, not G based text ads as they are very sensitive to these types of frauds. It has been also found that some fradulent banner networks enlist these companies to boast of a higher CTR, wonder how it works since the webmaster is bound to notice a lower conversion rate.

While we are at it, the call centre job pays approximately 200$ per month for the newbie and the average being 300-350$ (US $).
