Does anyone know why google's mediapartners googlebot would request pages from a site that doesn't have adsense? Checked the IP and its one of googles, so it doesn't appear to be a spoofed UA. Any thoughts?

Thanks for that LoanUniverse,
A quick check in the logs, and just a few rows above the mediapartners entry was indeed an opera entry for the same page.
As is often the case, there is a simple answer to apparently strange behavior. I'll put my tinfoil hat back in the drawer for a while.

Opera has adsense built in? I am guessing they detect if adsense is already showing on a page before prepending their own ads?
Must be a nice little earner...

Must be recent versions. Unreg 7.11 doesn't show any AdSense to me.

7.5 ver of Opera now out, quite a difference in the look of this version and ads by google are displayed in a slimlined way. I like this ver of Opera.

as i believe "mediapartners googlebot" is also the one crawling for images.
