What has April's Smart Pricing done for publishers?

Since April 1st, Google implemented Smart Pricing for advertisers and publishers. EPC dropped 40% compared to Jan-March average. At the end of April, my EPC skyrockted 120%. In the first 18 days of May, EPC went back to Jan-March average...

So, what's the point of this Smart Pricing?

Anyone experienced the same drop and going back to pre-April EPC rate?

I'm very happy with the apparent results of the change.

That's easy: to bring pricing into line with value to advertisers.

But I'm getting the same ads and same pricing again... so does this mean my current EPC reflect the true value of the traffic my site sent to the advertisers?

I'd guess it means that (a) bids are climbing for keyphrases that draw ads to your pages, and/or (b) the type of content on your site is doing well in the latest incarnation of Google's "smart pricing" or variable-discount formula.

We have reached record daily revenue highs this May. Our EPC has increased by 19% compared to March and slightly higher at 2% compared to April. Plus, the channels allowed us to evaluate the best type of creatives for each type of content that we have.

Yeah - we're happy with the changes
