When did Google start putting "(aff)" on affiliate ads?

Just noticed this...and the ad was definitely for an affiliate site. Is indicating that an advertiser is an affiliate site new?

Thats been a requirement for some time now....at least since last summer (when I was running a few affiliate ads).

Identify Affiliate Status

If you are an affiliate and are paid to send traffic to another site or a distributor, you must identify yourself as an affiliate or a distributor in your ad text.

Example:

Insert the word "affiliate" or "distributor" in your ad text or title.
