I read the case study for seatguru and noticed this statement:

AdSense ads are his only source of revenue.

Yet when I go to the site I see plenty of other ads plastered all over. I wonder what happened there.

I completely agree... thats a mess up by google right there.

I count no less than 7 NON google ads (so 8 total).

The ones I checked actually appear to be affiliate links for the site itself, as opposed to paid advertisers.

("I did not want to put banners or pop-ups on the site,")
Heh, guess he changed his mind on the banners.

If the case study is correct, then seatguru is making $0 from their affiliate links. Not a very good conversion it would seem.

Ya, there are definitely affiliate links.

Honestly these case studies take a long time to produce. At some point in time they were the only source, but then during the algorithm changes of Nov last year we were forced to diversify a little bit.

Another inaccuracy, in the article we said that Adsense was almost everywhere on the site which isn't accurate anymore as they are everywhere now.

What I can attest to is the success we've had with the program and it single-handedly turning the hobby into a small business.

Long time lurker, first time poster ;-)

HA!

Heya Seat!

That was awesome, a response straight from the source.

Hope you stop lurking and start posting, you've done what a good percentage of people here are working towards... bet you have some great things to share.

I wonder if Google will add that to the case study ;)

Great to see you here - superb site, use it all the time for my flights :)
