I did a check on adwords and find that workds like online gambling pay very highly. but when i type 'online gambling' in google search, there are no adword ads.

So does it mean that no one advertise for 'online gambling' and why the high priced keyword then?

I dun want to optimize my site for a particular keyword and then find that there are no relevent ads.

Any one knows?

Thats very interesting.. just tried online gambling search myself.. no adverts on it.. only dvds.

Looks like an openning for a gambling site to advertise :P

Google stopped running gambling adverts at the end of April.

What about other words then? I though the words run on supply and demand?

Words like tuition has 4-5 ads displayed on google and but cheap to buy on adwords.

Words like women are about 15 times more expensive to buy but there's only one listing in google.

Or maybe it's because it is country oreinted?
Anyone knows?

yes - in examples such as the ones you mentioned, most likely geotargeting comes into play.

I wonder what's motivating Google from turning away these paying customers on things like gambling, pharmaceuticals, etc. when it accepted them before. Those advertisers will, for the most part, just go to Overture. Why give up market share and money?

TampaLou - you may not have noticed, but Overture was the first major PPC engine that stopped allowing pharmacy ads - anyhow pharm is still allowed in G - as long as the website passes certification requirements regarding how they dole out prescriptions, etc.

Hmm, I didn't know about Overture's banning on pharmaceutical ads -- do you all think Overture's decision influenced what Google decided to do?
