Adding adsense to a new site

How soon should I be looking to request adsense

Hi everyone. Just made a site live (last week). Loads of indepth information about a very specific topic. Should be good for generating income over time.

My question is when should I start looking at adding adsense and affiliate links? Should I wait until I at least get listed by the major search engines?

I am reviewing products on the site but have no links out to purchase these items yet.

Thanks...

I waited until there was a good stream of traffic on mine, I know that many design their sites around adverts to maximise earnings, so loads of people will have Adsense in from the start.

If you have the potential to earn money at the moment, then don't waste it!

Exactly right. If you can even earn a few dollars a day, don't pass it up. Get Adsense loaded so that as your traffic increases you will be taking advantage of the earning power of Adsense.

I just add it when I am close to done. I give it a new category, make sure there is some content to slurp, and go ahead.

I'm with wonderboy, if the site is complete don't waste any time.

There may be an added benefit to including adsense now. I believe, but don't hold me to this, that the Google Syndication bot triggered by the AdSense ad actually "notifies" Googlebot to visit the site, so there may be a chance you could get indexed faster.

Guys, am I correct on these theory?

I don't think Mediabot has anything to do with when the regular bot shows up.

I recently launched a new site. As I completed pages, I uploaded and viewed them to get mediabot to visit, so they'd be showing ads.

This process took me most of a month. Then I launched and placed a link on a pr 5 page on one of my other site.

No Googlebot at anytime during the development phase, or after launch..

After a couple of weeks, I put a link on a pr 6 page that gets freshed. Googlebot finally showed up at the new site.

Neither the presence of Adsense, nor the use of the Google toolbar had any effect on getting Googlebot to show up.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.
